Laser Surgery
Living with glasses and contact lenses your whole life isn't easy. You have to remember to bring extra pairs on vacation and worry about replacing them if they break or get lost. In addition, swimming and other water sports become less enjoyable or even impossible.
Laser vision correction, offered at our St. Louis and Chesterfield, Missouri offices, completely changes the equation. The procedure can reduce or even eliminate your reliance on glasses and contact lenses. Imagine seeing clearly from the moment you wake up in the morning, with greater freedom to enjoy your favorite activities. Dr. Cohen can conduct a full examination to determine whether you are a good candidate for either LASIK or PRK.
Optical Shop
Cohen Eye Associates offers total eye care. Our exceptionally well-qualified staff will ensure that you receive the finest possible eye care, whether you come to us for a routine eye exam or for a more serious vision problem. We also have a full service optical shop to provide you with flattering glasses and sunglasses.
LASIK vs. PRK
LASIK, or laser-assisted in-situ keratomileusis, uses a laser to reshape the cornea, allowing light rays to focus more precisely on the retina. Due largely to its relatively quick recovery time, LASIK has become the most popular type of laser vision correction in the United States.
PRK, or photorefractive keratectomy, is very similar to LASIK; however, it does not involve the creation of a corneal flap as LASIK does. Therefore, it is often an excellent option for patients who want laser vision correction but are not good candidates for LASIK.
Cataract Surgery
In the past, cataract surgery was a complicated procedure requiring a lengthy recovery time. Now, with the advent of sutureless lens replacement using intraocular lenses, most people will be able to return to regular activities within a day or two of having their cataracts removed.
In addition to removing your cataracts, our doctors are pleased to offer you increased focusing ability across a wide range of vision. The newest multifocal intraocular lenses have the potential to restore clarity and crispness to your near, intermediate, and distance vision.
